OUR SOCIETY
The Merseyside Medico-Legal Society was founded in the early 1960s by a group of lawyers and doctors to promote the better understanding of both law and medicine.
We host free lectures from prominent speakers in a range of disciplines on any topic of interest to our members (not always medical or legal). The meetings take place, on average, 4 times per year at various venues throughout the Liverpool such as the LMI, the Athenaeum, or the Racquet Club.
For members we also provide optional drinks and dinner before each lecture where you will get a chance to socialise with our speaker and guests. Further details of our events are set out below, please be sure to book in advance.
All medics, lawyers and students of either profession are welcome to join the society. The medical membership has included forensic pathologists, dentists, police doctors, GPs and allied professions. The legal members include solicitors, barristers, judges, coroners, JPs and academics.

Wed 12 NovThe Artist ClubDr Robert Angus, Consultant Respiratory Physician at Aintree has kindly agreed to be our guest speaker for our main event of the year. A chance to socialise with all our members once again; a lavish three-course black tie dinner with good wine, great company and pleasant surroundings.
Wed 26 NovThe Racquet ClubDr Liz O'Grady will talk to us about the difficult and sometimes delicate subject of Managing Professional Standards in the current climate. We hope this fascinating talk will stimulate a healthy discussion and lively debate among all our members.
